THE LUTHERAN ACADEMY STAFF

Mr.
Roger Borchin, Principal
A school without a wise and steady hand guiding it will
certainly find itself wanting. Mr. Roger Borchin has
been the key figure in establishing and guiding The
Lutheran Academy in its founding year. Mr. Borchin
retired to Moscow, PA after 30 years as a Lutheran school
educator and principal. Several years ago he
established the Immanuel Lutheran Preschool, and now God
continues to use him in the establishment of our school.
Mr. Borchin has two sons (all grown up, but not
living that far away!) and he and his wife Jane are members
at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scranton.

Mrs.
Angela Scheller, Teacher
Mrs. Scheller, our most wonderful and faithful teacher,
came to Scranton from her home state of California in 2007,
after serving many years as an elementary school teacher in
an Episcopal parish school. She has been a tremendous
blessing to our academy in its first year! Extremely
versatile as a teacher, patient, kind, and affirming to the
students, she continually engages the Academy students with
their new knowledge and helps them place it into a Godly
world view. Mrs. Scheller has a husband Robert, and
two daughters Sophie and Annabelle.

Rev.
Kristian Bjornstad
Pastor Bjornstad, Pastor of
Peace Lutheran
Church, is the
Academy's Pastor, "temporary" general music instructor,
"tech guy", and "whatever else needs to be done" fellow.
Pastor Bjornstad has ministered in Scranton with his
wife Monica for more than seven years. He has four
children, two of which attend The Lutheran Academy.

Rev.
Anthony Mandile III
Pastor Mandile, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, is
currently serving on the Academy Board of Directors, as
well as teaching Religion. A former public and
parochial teacher himself, he has been the pastor at
Immanuel since 2003. He has has four children by his
wife Lori, who also happens to be a (former) school
teacher!

Mrs.
Mary Chache, Visual Arts Instructor
So important to The Lutheran Academy are the wonderful
services of Mrs. Mary Chache, our visual arts instructor.
Mrs. Chache, a graduate of Marywood University, has
been a free lance graphic designer for many years.
Recently God has been leading her to share her love
of art with students. For several years she has been
teaching art at The Geneva School in Olyphant, PA, another
Classical Education school. She enjoys producing art
curriculum and has won awards with them from Veritas Press
publishing company. We are grateful for Mrs. Chache's
contribution to our arts curriculum!
